The French composer and conductor, Pierre Boulez, passed away this past Tuesday at his home in Baden-Baden, Germany. His gift to us was an infinite amount of inspiration and creativity. He was a very admired and talented man who had a huge influence on European musicians and several artists from all over the world. He has been considered one of the best and most influential voices in contemporary music since the 1950’s.

Boulez was also the founder and former director of the Paris based Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique and was famed for his work alongside leading experimental composers such as Karlheinz Stockhausen and Olivier Messiaen. He gave his composers and his community something not all composers and conductors can do, which is to bring them a drive of courage, innovation and creativity within themselves.
